Energy bill support
Find out how to get support with gas and electricity bills.
On this page:
If you’re struggling to pay your energy bills, contact your energy provider first as they may be able to help.
Cirencester Foodbank may be able to provide support with gas and electricity. Our team of volunteer signposters can connect you with local organisations providing advice and support, we can refer you to our Citizens Advice Foodbank team who can provide advice and fuel vouchers, and in some cases we may be able to provide you with a fuel voucher ourselves where you are on pre-payment meters and have no credit remaining.
If you need further support with energy bills, contact one of the organisations below.
Who to contact for support with energy bills
Your energy provider
In the first instance, contact your energy provider to see if they can offer any assistance. They may be able to review your bill and payment plan or have hardship funds available.
Cotswold District Council
Contact your local council with the specific request of accessing the Household Support Fund. This is a grant distributed by councils in England specifically to support those who need it most. Find out about more support from Cotswold District Council
Your local Citizens Advice office
Contact your Stroud & Cotswold Citizens Advice office. They will be able to help you identify any grants you may be entitled to and support you with any applications.
Warm & Well
Warm and Well offers energy efficiency advice to householders and also administers grant funding on behalf of the local authorities and other funders.
This ranges from simple changes you can make, to helping you access grants for insulation or providing information about renewable technologies. They can help you reduce your energy bills, switch your energy tariff or supplier, and help you find local installers and tradespeople. They may also be able to offer you a free home energy visit.
British Gas Energy Trust
The British Gas Energy Trust is an independent charitable trust set up to support families and individuals facing financial hardship and fuel poverty across England, Scotland and Wales. There is help available whether you are a British Gas customer, or with a different supplier.
